I have a client that is from the town of Tonsberg in Norway. Being Scandinavian myself, I was interested in learning a little bit about it so I researched a little about it and found out some interesting things.
Tonsberg is the oldest scandinavian town on record. They celebrated their 1100 year jubilee almost 50 years ago.
The entire city was burned by a the great fire of 1536 but was reconstructed.
King Haakon Haakonson set up a castle there, and his daughter Princess Kristina then married The Spanish Prince of Castilla. Now the town of Tonsberg and the town of Covarrubias in Spain have entered an eternal friendship agreement to honor their connection from that marriage.
I will post some pictures later.
